"I was brought up on classical figurative images, on post-war French art, on Italian sculpture. Figurative sculpture was not a derogatory term. These images are irrelevant to Israeli art; unsuitable; nonexistent.
I realized I was heading into a dead end. I didn't know how to break this glass ceiling, and I was greatly aided by Gal Weinstein, David Wakstein, and Gideon Gechtman. Through them I began to understand, to ask different questions, questions about the material; questions that differed entirely from the art I was taught. I started asking questions about the material in figurative art, such as: how should one sculpt a body in clay? in bronze? in aluminum? in plaster? Each of these questions calls for a different approach. I asked questions about forging substances, about imitating a given material. Gechtman, for instance, inquired how to make marble in plastic. What are the qualities of this material? The question is not how to sculpt a figure in marble, but rather—how to sculpt the figure and fake the marble. It's very Israeli.

I don't work in a single style. My works are very eclectic. I work simultaneously in several markets, and this may also be the source of the eclecticism. I ask questions related to the place, and sculpt according to its conditions.

Venus gave rise to a new language, new in terms of my observation. I scanned and printed her in layers. I construct my work in layers rather than from observation. It introduces a new way of looking at the sculpture. My view changes constantly; the image changes constantly. In enlargements, you observe less and measure more; here you have an opportunity to scan the sculpture and obtain it in virtual dimensions. You can slice it and see what each slice looks like, and refer to it from several angles. You get a different view of reality, and consequently your sculpture changes too."
